SHAPE completes landmark refurbishment of Hilton Sydney Hotel

SHAPE successfully delivered the refurbishment of the Hilton Sydney Hotel across 24 floors, including a comprehensive upgrade to 528 guest rooms, 106 new bathrooms and 11 new executive suites. The project also included works to the Marble Bar, a new executive lounge, meeting rooms, and ground floor public areas.

The ground floor lobby saw significant upgrades, including a new reception desk, lounge, and café, which was fitted with a new commercial kitchen, flooring, and furniture. The heritage Marble Bar was refreshed with new bar furniture, flooring, and feature lighting, while the Level 1 space was expanded with the addition of a brand-new executive lounge, kitchen/buffet space, a new executive meeting room and powder room.

Concurrently, 528 guestrooms across 24 floors were being completed, including the upgrade of all corridors with new carpet and joinery panelling. This involved the demolition of the existing executive lounge to create 11 new executive guestroom suites complete with new services & bathrooms, and extensive architectural joinery elements of new timber flooring, feature bathroom screen, minibar, fabric bedhead, and automated roller blinds.

This extensive project was managed under a compressed programme, ensuring minimal disruption to the hotel’s revenue drivers and maintaining high standards of quality throughout. Working within a live hotel environment imposed strict noise restrictions and limited construction hours. The refurbishment program generally allowed for two weeks per level, including full corridor refurbishment and an average of 25 rooms per level.
